Proud owners of Kia vehicles receive the bi-annual car magazine, Open Road — filled with features, insights, and information on upcoming models. This six year-old glossy magazine was successfully communicating product news, travel information, and helpful tips for owners, but the design wasn't capturing the energy and design-forward sophistication of the Kia brand. So, Kia and Leaders Media America tapped Hexanine to redesign the flagship publication. We sought to elevate the magazine's design, matching the high-gloss quality of Kia's award-winning product design and advertising. Our team simplified the design and uncluttered the layouts overall, putting the focus back on the cars themselves (and Kia's beautiful auto photography). We also streamlined the typographic system and magazine hierarchy to shift the reading experience into a much higher gear.
