Literacy Chicago is the largest not-for-profit provider of free, individualized adult education and family literacy services in Illinois. With a rich history and commitment to improving lives through reading education, the LC team wanted to usher in a brand refresh with new communications pieces, repositioning the organization and getting back to the heart of its mission. This work was created in conjunction with EPIC, an organization that pairs worthy non-profit orgs with full volunteer creative teams to help them succeed.
Unlike most Hexanine projects, these brochures were created alongside a full team of volunteers. This unique creative team was hand-built by the EPIC organization to specifically meet the needs of Literacy Chicago. Our group included two designers, two copywriters, a project manager, photographer and a creative director. The size and breadth of that kind of team seems like a luxury for most NPOs, and was an excellent experience that provided crucial donation-ready print materials for Literacy Chicago, as well as a brand platform of “Now I Belong” for the organization. Each member of the team volunteered more than eight weeks of time and expertise to produce the design, writing, strategic thinking and art direction for such a great client.
